I was surprised, By This review is from: ProActive Aluminum Ball Shagger Tube (Sports) I read some reviews on the other ball retrievers for chipping and it was clear to stay away from the plastic stuff so I did. When I got the item, I thought that I would have to return it and get the shag bag instead because it really didn't look like it was going to work very well. I was very surprised when I took it out for the first time with about 15 golf balls and I must admit that it worked much better than I thought it would. I didn't have to bend over once. It saved my back and it's made of aluminum so it's solid. Best part of all is that it slid perfectly in my golf bag right next to my putter. One complaint is that if you turn the tube over with the balls in it, they will all come tumbling out regardless of the "cap" on it. Most of that time I've had this tube in my trunk so I can readily practice chipping and putting at a nearby golf course. This tube functions as storage for approx 22-23 golf balls and nothing more. My beefs with this product are:Cap closure: Describing it as lousy would be an understatement. The cap constantly unhinges leaving 22-23 golf balls to roll around in the trunk. Worse yet, the cap often pops open when taking it the tube out of the trunk causing 22-23 golf balls to scatter to the four winds in the parking lot. Cannot count the number of embarrassing times this has occurred, but it's at least a half-dozen. Long and short is you consciously have to focus on keeping the tube vertical and cap up - at all times. It also means that it's difficult to carry anything else but this tube with one hand. Proactive fell short in putting one piece that is important - You can't pick up the balls after having 10 balls in your tube without using lot of effort. Very basic design flaw, I wouldn't suggest anybody buying this tube. |
